Afterwards Yellow Lounge takes a summerbreak until September, when we will get back to you with a new program. The Yellow Lounge was introduced in 2000 and has since spread with success to cities like Berlin, Vienna, Stockholm and Salzburg. The idea from the start was to tear classical music out of the concert halls and into completely different, exciting and innovative environments, where it could meet new audiences and be presented in new surroundings. Many star entertainers have been involved in the concept. Anne Sophie von Otter and Elvis Costello have visited Yellow Lounge in Berlin, where also Neil Tennant from the Pet Shop Boys has appeared as guest DJ. Latest, Sting has introduced “Songs from the Labyrinth”, a CD made for Deutsche Grammophon, at the Yellow Lounge in Berlin. At Avenue Hotel there will be two DJs who will throw themselves into the special Yellow Lounge genre:
KATRINE RING
Katrine is one of Denmark’s most knowledgeable and diverse DJs mastering all genres and styles in her very own, special way. Many will remember Katrine from Danish Radio’s P3 in the 80s, where she was among those who broke the ice for electronic and underground music. Katrine also writes as a music critic on various magazines, publications and newspapers. With her outstanding musical overview, Katrine Ring mixes the classical masters with modern electronic artists.
PETER KAAE
Music journalist and D.J., who throughout the 90s made portrait and music programmes on Danish Radio’s P3, has since been employed by Sky Radio. Peer Kaae mixes the traditional classical repertoire with the modern tones of John Barry, Pet Shop Boys and Hans Zimmer. Today Peter works as consultant for Universal Music.
Yellow Lounge Evenings
Katrine Ring and Peer Kaae will be mixing classic music every Wednesday at the Avenue Hotel. Every Wednesday from 20.00 – 23.00 at the Avenue Hotel Movie Music Quiz – always the first Wednesday in a month. Avenue Hotel served brunch to classic music with great success last year. Now the DJ’s, Katrine Ring and Peer Kaae, will be mixing classic music every Wednesday evening for you. Chill out to magnificent music in our relaxing lounge, where you will find magazines, newspapers, interesting wines, specially imported coffees and delicate foods, and last but not least our new cocktail “Yellow Lounge”…. whatever your mood dictates. Yellow Lounge is the perfect place to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city and everyday life. Enjoy a Wednesday night in the company of your friends and great music –where it is also possible to carry on a conversation. Once a month on our musical menu there will be a “Yellow Lounge Movie Quiz, where Peer Kaae will challenge guests with a mix of tantalizing questions from the exciting world of movies and their soundtracks. Come and test your movie expertise and perhaps win one of the prizes from Universal Music. First time November 5th 2008.

The Yellow Lounge CD
The new Yellow Lounge concept, which is already a success all over Europe, has been introduced at the Avenue Hotel. The concept was thought out by the people behind the world famous Deutsche Grammofon, with its equally famous Yellow logo. The Yellow Lounge concept was developed to demonstrate that classical music can flourish outside the daunting walls of the concert hall and in completely different surroundings. The idea is that the DJ from his unit plays a mixed repertoire, tied artfully together with delightful intermezzos, the music of, for example, Debussy to John Barry to Brian Eno – creating a friendly and exhilarating atmosphere Chill-out, listen, enjoy…… Avenue Hotel has the perfect set out, kitchen and staff for the Yellow Lounge Concept. Therefore, together with Deutsche Grammophon in Denmark, Avenue has arranged a number of events.
